Are you a high-level executive looking for something new? Perhaps you want to change your employer or maybe even the industry in which you work.
Changing employers after you’ve worked so hard to reach your current position can be a bit daunting. But it’s a concept that shouldn’t be ignored – especially if you want to live a happy, fulfilled life.
You’ve worked hard to get where you are, but you don’t want to become bored or stagnant in your career, going through the motions and feeling unchallenged.
So how to you get started so that you can transition into a career that is even better than your current one? At Quantum Change Consulting, we’ve developed a process to help executives make such a transition. There are a variety of steps you need to take to get started.
To get you thinking, here are 3 helpful hints:
1. Step into your power. If you’ve become disillusion or bored, you probably have lost enthusiasm and love for your career. You need to find a way to take back your power and get excited again. After all, you’re an executive. You’re a leader. People can read your energy just by looking at you. You need to dig deep and figure out what it is that makes you happy, fulfilled and the powerful leader that you know you can be. When you step into your power, there’s no stopping you.
2. Determine which of your skills are transferable. You’ve developed a good many skills during your years of employment. Some will be transferable to other executive positions. Some will not. You need to figure out which of your skills are the most marketable, what skills need to be fine-tuned and what skills need to be learned. This can be such an exciting time when you realize how much you actually know that you take for granted and what skills, with a little updating, can skyrocket you to success in a new field or company.
3. Network. Get out there and network with people who need your services. You may be available and ready for an exciting new challenge, but if nobody knows you’re looking for a new opportunity, you won’t get anywhere. Tell everyone you know that you are looking for a new, exciting career opportunity. If they don’t know about one, they may know someone who does. Don’t they always say, it’s not what you know, but who you know? In this case, that’s true. So get out there and spread the word!
